As philosopher Simon Critchley states, “…..death comes into the world to us through the death of others and so the question of grief is key in the relation between death and love.."
Over the course of the past semester, 14 students read texts ranging from Plato, Critchley, C.S. Lewis and others about death and grief and created artwork around this topic.  This show is a culmination of the semester's work and much of it is stunning, thoughtful, and surprisingly not grim.
We would love for you to see the art and meet the students who created it.  The show will take place this Friday, December 7th at the Loudon House located on 209 Castlewood Drive.
The class would like to give special thanks to Becky Alley and the Directors at the Loudon House, whose generosity made this possible.
All semester long, I've been in a special topics class titled "Art, Death, and Dying" where works were created from inspiration of said topics.  Its been interesting.  I am one of three graduate students in the class, whereas the other eleven are advanced undergrad students.  With this show we have been given the opportunity to show off our best works from the class.  And since the class is so diverse the works range a great deal from video to fiber sculpture and minimalist paintings.

I hope you join us at the Loundon House this coming Friday.  It should be fun.
